Dead Faith & Empty Words

Dead faith can wear Sunday clothes. It can know the right words, admire the right doctrines, and say “be warmed and filled” while keeping its hands closed. But saving faith is never alone. We are justified by faith alone — not by our works, not by our résumé, not by our moral performance. But the faith that receives Christ is a living faith, and living faith works by love. Christ did not look upon us in our hunger and nakedness and send us away with religious words. He came near. He took on flesh. He gave His body and blood for sinners. So come to Christ without excuses. Receive His grace. And then let that grace take flesh in you. Dead faith cannot save. But the faith that rests in Christ, works by love, and receives the living Savior — that faith shall never die.
